Hi! I'm Sarah Jebian!
  • I believe that everyone can sing, It's my passion to help you find and develop your voice, your unique sound.

  • I believe that our voices are our most human, vulnerable, expressive part of who we are, and that singing is a whole body-mind-spirit experience. I recognize that you are a live human being who has bad days, fears, trauma, and also joy, curiosity, and passion. I love that about you and will meet you where you are on any given day!

  • I am committed to making my studio a space where you can bring your whole beautiful self, including racial, cultural, ethnic, gender, and sexual identities, and neuro & physical diversity. This commitment includes my continual learning through books, coursework, and mentoring.  Also, there's no such thing as the 'right' music for learning to sing. The music you love to sing is 'the right music"!

  • I specialize in teaching contemporary music styles and musical theater. I include performance coaching as part of our learning, not just vocal technique.  After all, songs are stories set to music and we are the storytellers.

I work with singers:
  • Ages 14 and older. (For younger students, I can recommend some great teachers.)
  • In person and online. My home studio is located in Mountain View, CA. For online students, all you need is a laptop, a phone or tablet, and maybe a Bluetooth speaker (though it's not 100% necessary).
  • Who love to learn how things work. I am obsessed with the science behind how our voices function and love to share that passion with my students.
  • Who want to work on musical theater and popular music. (If classical music is your jam, I can recommend some great teachers.)
  • Who want to work hard and who take responsibility for their own artistic journey. I teach from a student-led, evidence-based pedagogy, using principles of exercise physiology to train the muscles involved with vocal production to achieve your desired tonal outcome.
What does student-led, evidence-based pedagogy mean?
Simply put, you are in charge of our time together. You pick the music we work on. You set the agenda for the lesson. I'm simply a guide on your path to a greater understanding of your unique voice. Your experience is led by you, with guidance from me as needed. The truth is, you likely already know what to do. You just don't know how to do it consistently and on demand. I'll help you unlock the door through expert guidance, grounded in the latest voice science as we understand it. As vocologists learn more about the vocal instrument, so do we! Yay SCIENCE!
