Hi there! Welcome to my website and thanks for visiting. Please have a look around. Here's some info about me if you're curious...
I've been dancing, singing and acting for over 40 years and have performed all over the country - from Alaska to New York - and almost all the states in between. I lived and worked in New York for a while. Some of my credits there include: The Sound of Music (Paper Mill Playhouse), A Night on the Town (Don't Tell Mama), Avalon (FHB Productions - world premiere), Mother Wove the Morning (Shetler 54 - NY premiere, self-produced) and my own cabaret acts - Goin' Back (The Duplex) & Taking Flight: Songs of Hope (Planet Connections Theatre Festivity). I've worked a lot of other places too and performed in well over 100 musicals. Some of my favorites are Man of La Mancha (Aldonza), On the Town (Claire), Phantom! (Belladova, Carlotta understudy), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator) and Next to Normal (Diana).
I was named Best Dramatic Actress in the 1993 National Showcase Awards. (Mom always said I was a drama queen.) I also received a New York Spotlight On! nomination for Best Supporting Actress for my role as Old Morgaine in Avalon in 2006. In the 2002 San Francisco National Association of Teachers of Singing Annual Festival Competition, I took second place in the Musical Theater Division and won first place across all disciplines, taking home the Barlow Award Scholarship that year. I was nominated for Best Solo Performance and Best Solo Show for my self-produced cabaret act, Taking Flight: Songs of Hope, which played in New York City at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity in July of 2015. Most recently I was nominated for Best Lead Performer in a Musical for my role as Diana Goodman in Next to Normal (2023 Broadway World SF/Bay Area Awards).
In addition to my performing career, I am a stage director, producer, vocal director and voice teacher. I recently served the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville as the Director of Music & Arts. My debut album, Love Songs & Lullabies was released in 2012 and my second album, Not Your Mama's Hymns (with Unfolding) was released in May of 2019. In September 2023, I released my first original single, A Quiet House. I'll release two more original singles in 2024! When I'm not making music or teaching others to make music, I like to hang out with my husband, our children, and our two dogs. I am a former member of the Actor's Equity Association and a current member of the Association for Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries. My family and I live in the Bay Area of Northern California.
That's me, in a nutshell. Again, thanks for dropping by. Please sign up for my mailing list so you don't miss out on any news (also you get to hear about cool new things coming up before anyone else!).
Cheers!
Sarah
